Client: The Bank of China
Site Area: 1,500 sq.m
The construction of the Bank of China statue square commenced when the country’s Nationalist government was already waring and was completed in 1950. Clad throughout in locally sourced granite, the building provided the Bank with a splendid banking hall, commercial offices above and executive penthouse floors at the top. Echoing the art Deco style of the Hong Kong Bank alongside, it surmounted its neighbor by at least three storeys and for a while, was Hong Kong’s tallest building.
