Linking the new development of TST East with the older Kowloon peninsula, the Hong Kong Science Museum is a 4-storey, 16,200sq.m complex operated by the Urban Council.
The multicoloured building consists of an exposed structural frame which encloses sculptural elements such as cylindrical drums and a cone. The interior takes more of a "black box" approach, allowing maxium flexibility for the hands-on exhibits. The large Energy Machine and airplane fill animate the main space.
The adjacent Hong Kong Museum of History further enhances the playful forecourt and plaza, which are articulated with stairs, water features and a lookout tower. |
