Famous for the locally brewed Tsingtao beer, Qingdao was the venue for the sailing events of the 2008 Olympic Games. Situated between the old city of Qingdao and the new Central Business District, Qingdao Century Plaza is a mixed-use development that occupies a waterfront site overlooking Fushan Bay. Inspired by the image of Qiandao as a "city of sails", three sail-like towers rise between the Baguan Villa area and Haitian Hotel to deliver luxury seafront apartments ranging from 40 sq.m studio units to 600 sq.m duplex penthouses. Exuding a nautical air with their billowing sail forms, the towers are clad in silver aluminium panels with matching window systems. The Y-shaped floor plate allows the principal living spaces of a majority of units to enjoy the sea views. The sloping site provides separate entrances which are marked by sail roofs for the residential towers and the retail podium.
