  • The client brief for this 5 star resort hotel referred to a Moroccan /Moorish architectural theme. The architectural references which influenced the design of this hotel were diverse providing the guest a variety of visual experience within the broader architectural theme, and encompassing architectural form and feature from both Morocco and Moorish Spain.

  • The "centre piece" public area of the hotel containing the foyer lobby lounge and restaurants are set around a feature pond and is reminiscent of Al Hambra with finely detailed columns forming cloisters, decoratively carved wood ceilings, and glazed pan tile lean to roofs overhead. Stretching out in both directions from the public area, guest room blocks are arranged with a randomness that suggests the vernacular residential architecture of Morocco.

The Adalusian Citadel became a reference point for the overall landscape concept. The use of coarsely rendered walls weaving across the site punctuated by pilasters and gateway structures suggest the setting of a hillside village.
